Trying To ID a 1969 Fastback?
11 years ago we had a tenant move out from one of our units, he left a 1969 mustang (basket case) and all rusted out. The car has no plates, no buck tag, no door tag, no dash tag, and the front end is gone, so no fender apron tags, no plates, NOTHING!
Since the value has gone up on these cars I was thinking about restoring it, but would like to find out the vin, and get it registered before restoring. Is there another way to ID this car???
Thanks,

It's possible, although after you describe things, not probable, that, the original build sheet may have escaped the destruction. I've seen these found anywhere from tucked in the dash, under the pad stuffed in a crease to being in the head liner stuffed in a crease somewhere. I've also seen them behind kick panels, however, from the sounds of things that's not an option.
Good luck.

I've never heard of any ID info "under" the pans. Infact, there's no "under" the pans. There's a space between the seat towers and the pans, however, that'd only be accessable if you removed the seat towers. To which, if you do that, you might as well replace them, lol.
The only way you can get things cleared up would be to contact the previous owner and ask him for the regestration. Or ask him to read the VIN off the registration. You can then go from there. If there's a license plate on the vehicle still. You may be able to take that number to a local DMV and see if they can help.

There should be a vin code on the inner front fender stamped into the metal on the top of the engine compartment.
