How Much For Spray?
when i bring my car to the shop to get sprayed with paint, what should i expect to pay in labor....? this assuming the body work is essentially done and the car is semi-dissassembled (chrome removed, wipers, bumpers etc...)
i know paint prices can vary so i wont even have you attempt to include that in the price, but just to get an idea, how much do you think?

just depends on the shop labor and quality of job you want. Top of the line job will require a days worth of sanding and filling and then another days worth of taping/masking off.
Any reputable shop will do their own final sand and prep work. If not, they're just opening doors for trouble on the finished product. Not saying your prep work would be bad, just saying that the CYA factor on the shops part would not be there.
That said, just an example of 70 bucks an hour shop rate <x however many people are on the job> + cost of materials + cost of paint labor = final product.
I'd still guess in the 3-4k range. for an ok, non show qualty job. ( this is not a Maaco job ). And the sky's the limit really on show qualty paint.

Depends on the paint job you want?
What kind of paint, how many coats, clear coat, etc. If you do all the prep work, the cost would be anywhere from $1000 for a straight primer/one coat enamel, to 3-4000. depending on the shop reputation and quality of work. Macco will do it for 300 but you get what you pay foralso.
Visit the body shop your thinking on having the job done at, Look at there work. If they are any good, they should be happy to show you their work, Just don't touch anything.

just wondering if it is really THAT bad - anything would look better than the paint on my stang II right now

macco's paint everytime i see it is horrible! you get what you pay for, a decent paint job for base clear should be around 3-4k, that should include final prep, prime block, sealer and paint. but that will brobably be for a oem (not ness. top of the line show) quality, which is not a bad paint job at all.
