Who makes better cams?

RE: Who makes better cams?
Edelbrock doesnt make cams, they buy and resell them. Most are simply factory spec cams. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it can take some of the guess work out if you arent a valve train/performance guru. If you are more like the novice type who doesnt make cars and modifications of them the focus of your life, Edelbrock has done some of the leg work and using the heads with the cams and intakes will result in a decent running engine
Lunati, Comp, Crane all have quality cams, and they will custom grind something for you for a modest price. They will also help you pick the right one if you call them. There is a reason they are all still in business after all these years, also Bullet Cams make a quality product with many 'custom' grinds available as shelf cams. Bullet Cams employs the previous owner of UltraDyne cams, and that guy knows his stuff. I have run many UltraDyne cams in my vehicles, they make great power without the drawbacks of a too large cam.
Ford cams are high quality, but most are not outright performance cams, they are often designed with idle quality, driveability and mileage placed over all out power. Most are a compromise but they are also quite effective for the mild 5.0L with some additional bolt ons, and a head swap. They can make plenty of power in the right application, but something far removed from stock (which few on here really are) with a very different operating range wold benefit better from a custom cam from the aftermarket. For a driver or 70% street ride, the Ford cams work great.
