Default Summit Racing 302 HO for $500

is this a good deal?

"Summit Racing Ford 302 HO shortblock with a Ford Racing B303 cam, and hydraulic roller lifters. Has a little over 1000 miles. Willing to deliver locally. You can even have the engine stand for free as I won't need it."

asking $500 for it.

If the heads come with it, it is a steal. If not, then just an average price.

I agree with Soaring. You can find a short block and have it cleaned up etc, for about the same price if not cheaper. Only this one seems to have a few less miles. Curious though if summit uses used blocks or new ones? Anyone know?

500 for a 1000 miles shorty with a roller B303 cam and lifters is a really good price.

BUT

why is the guy selling a short block after only 1000 miles? i'd wanna know what the history of those 1000 miles was, and i'd pull a main cap and a rod cap to check the bearings. if things check out you can just retorque the caps back down, slap a set of decent heads on there and have a great 302 for cheap. hell, with a set of GT40's you'd have a long block ready to roll for less than 1250, maybe even 1k
