Don't forget about your local library. They have a lot of the Haynes and Chiltons, and other books on restoration. You can always look them over and when you find one you like buy your own copy.

I have the Chiltons Ford Mustang/Cougar manual and have used it a couple of times, I would like to get one with just Mustang stuff. I also just purchased a CD rom off of ebay, hopefully that is of some help.

The Factory Service Manual covers even a wider range. Every car built on the same platform as the Mustang. Like Soaring, I have a Haynes Manual as well. For the small amount of work I've doen so far, the Haynes Manual was actually more helpfull than the Shop Manual. I don't know that I would want to use it to rebuild an engine, though, and it doesn't even really have a section on AC. Basically, neither manual has had all of the answers I've needed so far and have caused me to utter more than one profanity regarding the lack of info specific to my year and model of car.

You're scrolling right now through the best possible book regarding repairing these old cars. No book is going to tell you how to really do it. There are tons of FAQ places on the web.

Bring your questions here and to the other big mustang message boards and you'll find all the answers you need.

yeah, but I still suggest you get them all. And also the books that are about specific things. Like the wiring diagram, vac diagrams, anything and everything with an exploded view, everything. That way when you ask questions about something you know what to ask, and most importantly what other people are talking about. You know so you don't look like well [sm=guilty.gif]
Now I buy a book everytime someone talks about a problem they have (if I don't already have the book) and then I read about the problem. It's so much fun, if I already didn't have a career, I'd probably take some classes and become a mechanic or something. Or at least open up a mustang parts shop.
