hood trim above grille?
I just bought a 65 hardtop, six cylinder, 3-speed trans, built according the to plate in San Jose on Jan. 18, 1965. Should it have the shiny trim on the front edge of the hood above the grille? I see 64 1/2s didn't but when was the transition? If there are holes on the underside of the hood does that say it should have it? Thanks

Yep.

I think only factory GT's had this molding in 1965, but in 66 it was on all Mustangs.

I don't doubt that you have the chrome trim just like I don't doubt that non-GT's have exhaust trumpets and fog lights (they were added on by others). From what I know, the chrome trim came only on the GT's in '65 and became standard in '66. FWIW, my '65 GT had the chrome piece and my '65 2+2 does not.

Why do you say Yep, Gothand? The 65's had the chrome trim piece on the front lip of the hood. If there are holes on the underside of the lip, then it should have the chrome piece.

Seriously, I wasn't at the assembly line, but everything I've read states that the hood lip trim was only on the GT in '65 and is listed as a new item for all '66 models.
