two questions - are they called wheel covers or hub caps?

also, any info/links on how to restore the 1966 version? pretty sure I can figure out cleaning up the chrome, but unsure of the black areas. thanks

I always called them hub caps, and removed mine as soon as i could. I still have three of them, one flew off somewhere when i had my old wheels on my car til i could get my new tires on my steel style rims.I would clean up the chrome and repaint the black areas.

hub caps for sure.... If you need anymore just let me know I have a full set ha ha ha... Cleaning them is easy and i recommend taping off and repainting the black parts.

It depends on what part of the country you are from I think. I have always thought of hub caps as the small moon type covers that only cover the inner part of the wheel, whereas a wheel cover covers the entire wheel. Yeah, just tape off the chrome and hit the black with a light coat of semi-flat enamel. For the center, look on the back side of the wheel cover and you will see the plastic center section that has been painted black so that the word Mustang will show up from the front. Hit that with a squirt of paint too.
