keoni1978 - looks good. Can you post or send details to me: garyrcross@optusnet.com.au Is it "A" or "C" code, whats trans, when was it painted, interior condition, any rust, what'sthe underside like, where is it located, how much you after?

Thanks to all who replied. Just so you know, i had been looking to import fromthe USA and although there is a lot more choice, compared to the couple i am now looking at, it is not 1/2 the price to bring one in to Australia. A couple of the fastbacks i was looking at were US$24,000 (Restored "C" code) and US$29,000 (very tidy GT). By the time you add our 10%tax (US$2400 / US$2900), transport costs in US ($500-$1000) to get them to L.A or N.Y and US$2500 to ship them to Australia it all adds up. So the "C" code would cost me about US$29,500 and the GT about US$35,000.

Don't get me wrong, there are some very good buys in the US that i could import here a lot cheaper than i could find here. It's just that i have found a couple of good buys (by our standards anyway) here and at least i can go and have a first hand look at them.

Cheers

where are you, Yellow66?
where are the cars? Are they online anywhere for pics?

Key question may be are they still left hand drive??

by the way, the prices (depending on the cars of course) are not too bad. Mine is far from perfect and I got offered $35k for it sitting in the workshop with no heads on the motor.

Problem here is local Ford muscle cars of the same age group say 67 Falcon GT to 72 Falcon GTHO start out at $25k for an unrestored rust bucket with bits missing. A restored GTHO sold for $400k last November and they are still going up.

Mustangs have major cool factor and are a cheap alternative.

I have a loaded '65 "A" Code GT Fastback, its in restoration. Having a GT is worth it even if it needs some fixing.

by the way Yellow66 you are saying the A code is around $43Aus and the GT around $50kAus???

that is pushing it for the A code evenif is is as described, but i wouldnt pay that for the GT even if you were 100% certain it was factory not dealer or mock. Even then, you'd want a helluva budget to fix it up by the sound of things.

there's a concourse winning GT coupe that has been for sale for months...
http://www.australianmusclecarsales.com.au/muscle/65938

it will cost a lot more than $16k Aus to get what you are describing to this level and even tho it is an FB (so worth a bit more here) this one hasnt sold at the price they have on it.

the non std motor doesnt matter too much i dont think. The 65s didnt have matching number engines anyway.

Those are ridiculous prices. If you pay that much for an old Ford you are insane. Come to the states, pick you out a nice Mustang and ship it back to Australia for 1/2 that price, which also includes the price of a plane ticket.

I could not agree more. Maybe as you say not 1/2 price, but you can do a lot better. Plus you would get to see the some of the States.

You could always purchase mine! I have been thinking of selling it to purchase a Cougar that I found!
