what carb is this (pics) and where are the adj. screws ?

RE: what carb is this (pics) and where are the adj. screws ?
Usually dual plane intakes are set up where one side (of the carb) feeds 2 outside and 2 inside cylinders.
So the ports from one side would be shaped kinda like > and the other like <, (assuming the top if your engine is about this size [ ] ) but stacked one set on top of the other.
Hope this helps (and doesn't confuse you even more)
It's pretty easy to see on most of the small block ford edelbrock manifolds, think 2 stacked "H"s One wide at the top, one wide at the bottom.

RE: what carb is this (pics) and where are the adj. screws ?
yes exactly
single plane: one massive hole with 8 arms
dual plane: 2 holes with 4 arms each
according to ponycarbs they say one hole feeds inner cylinders, the other the outer cylinders.
from which side of the carb the cylinders pull their air the carb doesn't care.
So let's say you have a single plane and 2 mixture screws
both set fine -> mixture ok
one set to rich, the other to lean -> mixture ok as well if it adds up
but in case you have a dual plane, the inner cylinders will pull mixture from only one side of the carb
So it makes perfect sense to me if he states: "the outer cylinders are too rich" to blame the mixture screw set to too rich (either of them)
As I said: I always thought dual plane feeds one head and the other hole the second head. whereas its per inner and outer cylinder.
Let me know if you disagree or think I'm talking complete rubbish.
I'm a mechanic but for 4bbl 8cyl engines I still have to learn a LOT ;-)

Ok, how is this...Each side of the carb Feeds 2 inner and 2 outer, so if one side of the carb was set way rich, you would have a problem with the inners on one bank, and the outers on the opposite bank.
Sorry about the prev post, I was starting to confuse myself.

Yep. One side of the carb feeds cylinders 1 and 4 and5 and 8 while the other side feeds 2 and 3 and 6 and 7 with a dual plane intake and a 2V carb.
The man the other day only had cylinders 3 and 7 running rich. He didn't mention 2 and 6. But, me thinks you are on the right track.
