Default 289 Preformance??

I've got a 289 I want to build and put into my '64 1/2 "D" code. I want to know what specificpreformance parts I canusewithout straying too far away from the stock look. But Iwant some power out of it.

most things you will do to build power are all internal so you'd never know (cept the rumble of the exhaust)

with decent compression, a hefty cam, upgraded heads, a nice dual plane intake/4bbl setup, and headers you'll be more than happy.

Joe that one is a 5.0L with a hydruallic roller cam. Slightly different animal than a 289. Although the same heads, intake and other stuff would work with the 289, and a cam upgrade would really wake it up. Its still a good article but there are differences to be known.

neat thing about CarCraft is they do low budget builds, they use alot of stock parts rather than just throwing a summit or jegs catalog at the engine. Sometimes they still do that, but often its simple stuff like a head swap. Even though there is an obvious chevy slant they still do things for the rest of us who dont bleed orange.

-1 for orange blood LOL

if your gonna stick with stock ford heads, weather they be 289's, 69/70 351w's, or gt40's i wouldnt go much over 500 lift. honestly for good drivability something in the .475 lift will really wake things up and you'll still have bottom end power.

Thanks for the input Thumpin. I know it is a bit different and i know i will not get close to 400 horses out of my 289, but a nice set of heads, a moderate cam, newintake/600cfm carb and a set of headers should wake up my pony.
