removing headbolts

Default removing headbolts

so i was planning on dropping my engine of a the machine shop tomorrow and i started stipping the engine down and im a pretty big dude and i can not get the heads bolt to turn a bit i sprayed some wd40 on the bolts and still no luck any tips on gets the suckers to turn im pretty sure the heads havent been of probly atleast 15 years if not more

well i use pb blaster (made the switch and am glad) umm have you tried hitting them get something metal that can make contact with the bolt and strike it with a hammer a couple of times on each bolt but don't do it to hard you want just enough of that vibration from the hammer to break that bond or the fritction another tried and true way is get a propane torch and heat that sucker up hot then apply penetrant and lastly get a lond pipe and use it as leverage and go real slow as not to break anything

ill try the pb blaster i realy dont wana break one and then have to get that fixed i might try an impact wrench in morning

Lefty Loosy, Righty Tighty

Your not going to break a head bolt. Put a big ol long pipe on the wrench , be carefull , the wrench may break.

I second a good application of PBBlaster. I used it on my exhaust manifold bolts and it worked wonders. I will never be without a can in my garage again.

+1 for PB for just about anything, but if you have air tools quit fartin around and put the impact on there

A 1/2 inch breaker bar with pipe on it or a good impact gun. Save the PB, WD or whatever else you care to use because there's no way it's going to work it's way down to the threads on the head bolts.
