Tires to handle a Supercharger
With the additon of 100 hourses to my 66 fastback, my guys were suggesting a wider tire (I currently have steel styled wheel with double red line 14x5 radials). They cautioned me that with the 300+ housepower I will be constantly spinning my wheels - especialy in 1st and 2nd gears.
One option is to keep the new tires I haveand get a custom 14x6 steel style wheel. This would spread the tired out for more contact and give me a slightly lower ride.
I also like the torq thurst wheels but wantto keep a "stock" look on the outside and I really like the double redline tires.
Any suggestions?

I too, like the original look. I picked up some 15x7 styled steel wheels off ebay through Mustangs Unlimited for $624 delivered. You could sell your original ones to minimize the cost.
Not only will a wider tire add traction, but so will a taller one. Do you have a posi?

I ran 245/60x15 on a 15x6.5 rim before swapping to a 245/40x17. Here's a wheel and tire fitment chart:

I can't get any traction with my original 14X5 rims and I have a stock 289 C code engine. I am running 14X7 Mag 500's with 195/70/R14 tires, and the traction is quite a bit better, but I can still smoke 'em if I get on it. I can't imagine having 100 more horses.
You might also want to add a torsion bar.
