Mustang Fastback Side Vent Drain Hose

RE: Mustang Fastback Side Vent Drain Hose
Jim,
Mine does not have the hole on the floor. Instead, it has two 'slits', about 1/4" wide x 3/4" long. It really looks like the thing was designed to hit the splash shield and run to the floor where it drains out the hole. I don't know how much water actually makes it into the vent drain, but there isn't a spot of rust anywhere on the floor below the drain.
I'm wondering if this is a '66+ item. Sentipede's '65 doesn't have the hoses either. Hmm ...

I looked at both the 65 Mustang Weld and Sealant Assembly Manual and the Ford Car Parts manual and there is no reference to the drain or the hose. It's is possible that this was a running change and because most non pressurized hoses used were a cut from bulk item, the was no attempt to provide a service number. Because the hole and drain fitting are part of any replacement sheet metal part or assembly, it would not be referenced. It's there, it's looks like a good idea and if it was not present, I would consider adding the feature. Unless you are like me, I don't drive my Fastbacks in the rain - it does rain in California, like right now.

You're right - I counldn't find a reference number either. My shop guys tell me that they have seen many fastbacks with major rust in this area - primarily due to no drainage.

Rain in CA ... ba ha ha, we've barely had 3" down here in L.A. I feel like a raisin. It rains so infrequently here,it'llrarely see water. I'll take a picture tonight to show the drain holes in my '65 to see if they're like yours. As is, I'd have to take a hole saw to that area to connect a hose to it. I may just do that, though probably with an adaptor so the hole doesn't get too big.

Their's manditory water rationing in Santa Cruz, can't water your lawn - wash your car,and most of the SF Bay counties are requesting a 10 percent cut back. It seems that Texas is getting all the water.

Were about 2/3rds normal but there's enough run off from the Sierras to fill up most reservoirs so we ain't in trouble yet. It's going to be a long hot dry summer (margaritas, aah) thanks to Algore (and the increased output from the sun)

We are as dry as a popcorn fart and burning down. Two large fires within 25 miles of here...and no rain in site.
Pray for rain.
