A 351 Windsor will fit in all early Mustangs. It's tight in 65/66's but the 67-70 cars have wider engine bay that allow for the 390/428 FE motors.

There isn't a mustang made that a 351w doesn't fit in.

Time to get your double headed nickel out and flip the old man for the motor. Just make sure you call heads

There isn't a mustang made that a 351w doesn't fit into.

However.

To install it in a 2001, the motor would need to be carbed and bybass the onboard computer, or you would need to get the intake and computer setup from something like a mid 90s crown vic and swap those components in. This would screw up the tranny controls I beleive which are also controlled via computer (if its an auto). You would also no longer be street legal I beleive since most states that require emissions inpsection no-longer actually sniff the exhaust. Since you have an ODBII computer they simply plug in and ask the computer if everything is ok, if it says "ok" you pass the emissions test. If not, you fail.

I beleive we all looked at the question from the frame of reference "old mustang, new motor" as apposed to "new mustang, new motor" and the laws are very different between the two depending on where you live.

Now with respect to that v6...that is a very peppy motor and can easily be tuned up for some more power if it isn't fast enough for you
