one wire alternator

Default one wire alternator

hi, i just installed a one wire alt on my 66 coupe and the amp meter seems to be working backward. has any one ran into this problem before and can i just switch the wires on the back of the gauge?i have tested the alt at the battery and its charging 14.5 volts and the car runs sooooo muuuch better. any help would be app.

If you ran a new wire to the solenoid (you should have) for the one wire instalation, the juice will not pass through the amp meter, so the meter probably would tend to show a discharge most of the time, and will never show a charge.

This is probably the best, you do not want the power of a modern alternator going through your dash anyway.
