Default Cowl Vents

Has anyone had the "pleasure" of replacing rusted cowl vents in a 64-1/2 Mustang? How involved is it? You can give it to me straight, my motto is "I have my sawzall in front of me and God behind me".

Hard Job.

Only about 250 spot welds to drill out to remove the old cowl then 250 spot welds to make to install the new one.

If it isn't too far gone, some people replace the hats for a short term fix till the rust spread larger past that area.

I'll do the work, I want it done once. Anyone else with some tips? Short cuts?

There ain't no short cuts. Just as DS said, ya gotta unweld the Son of a B, replace it with a new one, and spot weld it back in.

You could get one of those fancy plexiglas cowl covers![8D]

I put the plastic hats in on my 68 and you can do it from the inside with out unwelding the cowl. Dont know about the 65 but either way it is a bitch of a job. Good luck.

PS. I love the sawzall motto.
