FINALLY!!! Got my car back today!!! (8 months!)
In just under the time it takes for a child to be cooked in a woman's belly, I got my car back today!!! I posted some pics (sorry they're a bit dark, its in my garage and dark here now tonight). As a reminder, what was supposed to be a mild 300HP build oif my 289 turned out to be an all new 347 w/425+HP at the crank! Here's the detail of the build:
Ford Racing 347 Short block, forged internals
TFS Twisted Wedge CNC PortedTrack Heat Aluminum heads, 185cc intake, 64cc combustion chambers
TFS Stage 2 Roller Cam (Grind by Crane): .542/.563 .224 duration at .050
Cobra Shelby High Rise intake (dual plane)
Holley 600CFM Carb
Mallory Dist, Pertronix Coil
Griffin aluminum radiator
Canton 7qt oil pan/windage tray
Had my C4 built with shift kit, new Alto Red clutches, servos, kevlarbands, hi-perf Planetary
3.55 rear end ratio gears (originally had 2.73s)
2500 Stall converter
I gotta tell you, it is mild yet super ballsy if that makes any sense. I have 2 1/4 in exhaust with dual Magnaflows and Heddman Tork Step Ceramic headers and it sounds nice...not too loud for a vert which is what I was afraid might be the case. The idle is so cool...lumpy at lights, that's for sure.
While the motor was out, I had the engine bay redone, fenders pulled, aprons all replaced where necessary. Body shop said that I had it done at a good time, there were the beginning signs of apron rot under the front fenders. I could see bubbles starting to come through which is what made me get it done...Towers were great though, nothing needed...The whole bay now looks sweet!!!!!
2 minor issues to deal with: 1) My radiator has a tiny tiny leak. when I wipe it, I go back a few minutes later, there is a drop. Right on the weld at the bottom of the tank where it meets the space right above the fins. Sucks cuz this is the SECOND Griffin I've put in for this build, first one leaked too! Mustangs Plus is cool about the returns, but its a PIA to say the least. I'm in break in period for the engine and rear so patience is a virtue. 2) Speedo is now off cuz of the new rear end gears. Says I'm going 50 feels like 40. Not sure how far off it really is, plus I can;t tell how many miles I'm putting on for the break in, kinda sucks.
I also put in last years pic of the car as a reminder as well...
