Stock 1965 289 was Blue. I dont think there were any red engines in 65 or 66. I think it was either Blue or black. Not completley sure though, ill have to check the book
Red was used on the inline 6 cylinder, light blue on the V8 260cid valve covers and air cleaner on a '65. Ford BLue as it came to be known wasnt used until several years later, I am not sure of the exact date. They tried several blue colors before deciding on Ford Blue. THe High po 289 heads were painted black with a chrome air cleaner and chrome valve covers,
