Default engine swap

I have a 65 coupe with an inline 6 in it and a three speed manual transmission. I recently threw a rod and need to replace the engine, I would like to drop a 289 in it this time. What kind of changes do I need to make, is my transmission going to line up and do I need to change the engine mounts. I am a beginer to this but my buddy has done quite a few engine swaps before he just doesnt know about fords. Any help I can get is greatly apreaciated.

To put 289 in I6 car, change:

Motor mounts
Transmission
Rear end
Front spindles
Front suspension

to all v8 items. Not too hard, just consumes alot of time and money for parts.

It would be easer and cheaper to rebuild and modify the I-6 with a few performance parts.

Cood luck [sm=smiley20.gif]

The rearend may hold up fine if it is the 8.8. The tranny will be fine if it has the "butterfly" bolt pattern on the tranny side of the bellhousing.

They didn't have 8.8s back then, only 8" or 9"...

You have to change everything that the link that I posted tells you to. I did it to my mustang. I put in a T-5 and a ford 9" with disk brakes all the way around. A part car would of not helped me. I may know where a parts car is for sale. Its in GA.
