Default Results from my UCA drop poll

I am sure you have been wondering what the outcome was of my question regarding the UCA drop. I found the results to be very interesting. First off this information is based on the same post made on 6 forums. Well it represents a section of the Mustang community the results may be slightly off due to the percentage of Mustang owners who donā€™t participate on Mustang forums. Also the sample size is very small when you consider I got 218 responses and millions of these cars were made, but all that said the info still paints an interesting picture.

218 Mustangs 114 have the drop 52%
61 FB 34 have the drop 56%
22 V 9 have the drop 41%
135 C 71 have the drop 53%

Of the 114 with the drop 24 race their cars 21%

Percentage of cars with the drop per forum

Classic Mustangs
33%

MustangSteveā€™s FYI Ford
63%

StangNet
73%

Classic Mustang forum (FKA FoMoCo)
29%

Mustangandmore
29%

VMF
51%

Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll you have given me some good info and I will probably use some if it in my UCA drop web page.

Add my 65 and three 66 Mustangs that DO NOT have the drop.
1965 GT Fastback - pure stock.
1966 GT Fastback K - pure stock.
1966 hardtop - daily driver, A code (with a few goodies).
1966 GT Fastback - pure stock.

I wanted to add:

Being an "on-line" survey was definitely not a definitive representation of what the Mustang community as a whole is doing. Many of those that are not on line have not herd of the drop or do not know of its benefits. However I know quite a few Mustang owners, not on line who have performed the drop and based on personal experience, as well as the results of my poll, I would GUESS that some where between 1 in 4 and 1 in 8 Mustangs has the drop. I found it especially interesting that different forums had such varying % sense some of the forums are definitely in to modifying more than others.

I think your break down by Forum isskewed based on the fact that I participate in all of the above, but only responded in one place.

I think your break down by Forum is skewed based on the fact that I participate in all of the above, but only responded in one place.
I agree with you and I would go one step further and say that the breakdown is even more off when you consider that the sample size in a couple of the forums was less than 20 in one of the forums was more than 100. Like I said it is not definitive proof that all are doing the mod or even that one forum is likely to have more dropped cars than another. It was just some interesting information to look at, that has some truth to it. When I took statistics in collage the professor told us on the first day there are honest people, lyres, and then there are statisticians. In short statistics can be a valuable tool but the numbers can also be modified to say what ever the organization paying for the survey wants them to say

If you were around these cars in the '70s it was very popular. I think Al Gore invented it slightly before his big claim to fame (you know... the internet ).
We dropped a lot of Mustangs, Cougars, Falcons, Comets and even a few Blitzens. Of course we didn't have any of these fancy drill plates. We just used graph paper and center punches.
