The 271hp motor is the easiest one to spot. It has no harmonic balancer. Only a steel pulley on the front. They also have a swatch of orange painted on the back of the block.

So you have never heard of a 271HP/289? Or do you not read the post before you respond. That makes twice you cracked out of turn on me so far.

As I said, the coupe, fastback and conv. WERE offered with the 289/271. DO some research!!!! The following is as per the Mustang K-Code registry. At the current time these are the numbers for original K-Code cars registered with them in the US:
459 coupes
637 fastbacks
251 convertibles
459 coupes
637 fastbacks
251 convertibles

A 271 motor? Never heard of it. News to me. Yes, all body styles could be bought with either a 289 or an I200 6 banger, but the coupes were not offered with a hi-po engine.

The easiest way is to check the VIN #. Is the 5th character an A, C, or K?
The VIN will appear something like this: 5T07C000000. Also, to be positive, go under the car, take down the starter, and look up above it, there will be a machined area on the very back of the block with a casting # on it. That will be the actual deciding factor.
