Seat platform question
I am replacing the seat platforms in my 68 fastback. On the under side of the seat platform, there is a structural member made out of 13ga metal, so it is pretty substantial. The cross section of this member is has a U shape and it runs from the front of the seat platform to the back. The flat part of this member rests against the top side of the floorboard. This member runs in line with the floor support that runs form the front frame rail. I can not find this member in any of my diagrams. Does anybody know if this piece comes with the aftermarket seat platform? If not, where can I get it? Because mine are so rusted, I would like to replace them.

RE: Seat platform question
When I replaced them on my coupe the new parts didn't have them and I cleaned up and reused the old ones. However that was a while ago, and new parts are popping up all the time, so maybe you'll luck out.

RE: Seat platform question
I have a bad feeling I am going to have to reuse my original ones. With the shape they are in, that is going to involve a lot of cutting and pasting. I think I will need to get a better metal cutting blade.

RE: Seat platform question
When I looked at a seat platform at my local Mustang parts dealer, it did not have this structural member. I was bummed at the prospect of having to refurbish this piece. I needed a full floorboard, so I purchased a Dynacorn floorboard from this same dealer. To my surprise, the floorboard came with 2 seat platforms with this cross member already attached to the seat platforms. Yahoo!!! That will save me some time.
