Replace or Rebuild Carb?

Replace or Rebuild Carb?
Long story short, my '65FB has idling hesitation when warm and under load. Mechanic says it a warped pressure plate?
Anyhow, he says since I just had it rebuild last year and its already giving me problems, he would recommend I replace it.
What do you guys think, and and if I were to replace it, what would be my best choice?
1965 Fastback A Code
8 cylinder
Edelbrock Intake Manifold
Tri-Y headers
1 7/8" - 2" flowmaster 40 exhaust
Thanks in advance,
Joe

RE: Replace or Rebuild Carb?
is it a auto transmission? how do you get it to idle under load (by putting it in gear???)
do you mean it bogs down when you attempt to accelerate from a stand still?
If the carb has a warped base plate it would cause a vacuum leak....Its very simple to check for a vacuum leak all you need is some propane or carb cleaner. It does take a fair amount of propane volume to work and it needs to be focused. So your best bet is probably carb cleaner.......Just take it and spray it around the base of the carb and its fittings and listen for the engine to change tune when the engine is idling. If you hear it change tune then there is a vacuum leak at the spot that cause the rpm to change.
If you dont find a vacuum leak then it could be improperly adjusted or it could have dirt in the jets.

RE: Replace or Rebuild Carb?
Yes, the mechanics said it had a warped base plate. They also said they vacumm tested everything and everything was tight with no leaks.
By under load I mean when the car is in drive (Auto), and I am at a light stopped. It only happens after the engine has been warmed up and progressively gets worse. Also if I accelerate suddenly and immediately release the gas, it will stall sometimes.
Thanks again!

well if the base plate is warped but doesnt leak who cares so long as it doesnt jam anything like the butterfly plates in the venturies.
It probably just needs to be cleaned out and adjusted. I would suggest trying it yourself as spending money on that carb is a waste (other than a rebuild kit)

that is the EXACT carb i was talking about (and got in the mail today for 200 bucks shipped, it was used on a dyno motor for a couple hours).
holley sells reman'd carbs on ebay, watch around they list 570's about once every week or so, and they sell for around 200 + shipping.
