Default 408 stroker base hp?????

So i saw some kid earlier on in the week make an estimate on horsepower based on the fact that the car was stroked?

Is there kinda like a low end amount of hp you can at least expect from a stroked 408?

408 stroker with Eagle rods, Eagle crank, JE pistons, ported and polished 351w heads (they're still crap) Holley double pumper, HEI distributor (also crap), full 3" exhaust, long tube headers, and a cam that stalls at 1000 rpm, behind a t5 makes400hp at 5000 rpm, and 500 lbs of torque at 3300 rpm. At the rear wheels.

wow so i think my plans of making a 408 stroker with some AFR Heads msd ignition thru distributor as well .
forged H pistons flowmaster exhaust etc...

would have thrown me over the limit i suppose? I want to keep my car streetable running high 11's is what im happy with .

i was thinking 400 hp tops and 450 tq max .. but ummm .. what do you think my plans would knock me to ?

I dunno. But I'm not doing any more engine work till I can get the thing to hook up. Right now 1st and 2nd gear just result in tire smoke. It has a 9" rear with 3.73's, trac loc, and racing shocks. I'm going with traction bars (not the slapper kind), and if that doesn't do it then I'll be cutting in a 4 link. Other than that, I need racing seats and a 5 point harness and front discs. Then I'm going with AFR heads, an MSD setup, and a 100 shot 1st stage and 175 shot 2nd stage nitrous setup.

Sounds cool, do you have any documentation for this?

It'll be a few months, but when I get back to the states I'll get back over to that shop and download the charts to a jump drive. They don't have email.

1 hp per cube is an easy number to get. Look at what superdavid is putting down with factory ported iron heads. He is losing the better part of 100 hp because of that if he has the cam to do it.

And take notice of his traction problems. That is the challenge not making the hp, just getting it to the ground. And your T5 won't last long in your car.

So im guessing i should be popping close to what super dave is ?

I dont want to exceed 400 hp... Should I just NOT stroke in that case? And save those plans for later ?

im sure i dont want to have to deal with keeping that thing in the ground .

If it was my choice I would just build a 289/302. You can get a solid 325-350 and streetable and it won't be a real torque monster on the low end. Just me though.
