Default Steering box is in!!

Well, it took some doing, some skinned knuckles, a few choise expleatives, and a lot of time, but we finally got our new sterring box installed in the '65. We had to remove and install the steering wheel about 3 times to get it centered right but it's right now and lines up nicely. The steering is now tight and no slop in the steering wheel. Turns on a half-dollar. The only real pain was having to take everything off the bottom of the front end to get the old box out.....oil pan, steering linkage, front cross member, left hand engine mount. We are going to try to string the front end to check for alignment in a few days (depending on the weather). Then we are going to replace both rear brake cyclinders, and very possibly both fronts as well. Things are going well but slowly due to the lovely Texas weather we have been having these past three months.

Default RE: Steering box is in!!

Sometimes I think it would be easier just to get a hoist and jerk the dang motor to swap that box out!
