Default Back to the drawing board for a Carb.

So the carb i got on Ebay for 30 bucks had a tad bit of things missing .

Am i best off getting it completely rebuilt?

Or should i Just buy a new one and which one too ?

I was thinking about going for the chrome finish , Electric choke,

Right now i have a holley 4bbl carb 600 i believe.

How much is it on average to rebuild and replace a few things here and there .

And can anyone give me some suggestions if i were to get a new one ?

Ive heard things about avengers and whatnot or something like that i believe ,

Thanks alot .

EDIT: IM On A 250 Dollar Budget. And im looking for best bang for my buck .

Should I buy a rebuilt carb for around 150 ? With a warranty ? Are those worth it ?

I'll ask the simple question.

What is wrong with the carb you have now?

Not the one you bought on ebay...the one on the car.

Is it broken or are you just replacing it because you don't like what it looks like?

Well the one i bought on ebay is on the car right now in the shop .

The car never had an engine, So when i put the engine in i got it that carb that was really cheap , But it turns out that carb isnt working .

So im replacing it because it doesnt work , And since im doing that, im just taking a different approach on the color.

Hows a street avenger 670 ?

ohh now I understand.

I used to have an avenger 770. It worked. Car ran fine. I found out I was loosing about70 HP because it just wan't setup to work well in my performance application but on a moderate/modest build I would expect to be just fine.

well when i bought the engine i was told it was at 240 hp

Then i got a new performer intake from edel to convert to 4bbl and so getting the new carb to go with it should get this car rolling faster with an hp increase .

Do you think it fits right with the application in this situation , the engine i believe is stock to some extent but then again, with slight mods to it cuz no way a 77 engine had a stock 240 hp

what do you think ?

Thanks

Might be a tad on the large size but you can jet it down.

jet it down ? just basically adjust the secondaries and such right ?

well it was either this , or the avenger 570 but that seemed to small ..

so its either

street avenger 670
street avenger 570
or
street performace traditional 600
or
rebuild.

No jet down means to reduce the size of the jets.

Think of it like this...The jets are like a passage for the fuel to flow through (like a door or a hose) the fuel must mix with the air that comes down the 4 holes in the top of the carb. If you are running the stock jets they let in too much fuel therefore your air fuel mixture is rich in relation to your engine performance.....SO your engine runs crappy and your fuel mileage sucks.

SO we use a smaller jet (a smaller hose or door) so no less fuel is able to pass through and less fuel can mix with the air so you now have a learner air fuel charge thats better suited to your engine.

The only problem is figuring out what jet size to get.
