05, I'll stop buying all the crap if you stop buying all the mustangs in Alaska!

Although there is still some light out now we are losing about 5 minutes a day. Before long it will be dark most of the time

LOL!

You know I'm looking! I might have a line on the next project after these two! But like I need another 67 coupe! lol

I'm thinking I need to build a barn or stable to house these mares!

Oh yeah, plenty of places like that. You can get any of that stuff from Schucks most likely. If your uncle ownes a gold mine he's probably up north around Fairbanks?

I never heard about the bolt thing.... but if this helps any, I think I read that the 390 was originally put into cars only during this period, 360s went into the trucks of this era, so, if I am right, and if the engine is indeed a 390, this= car engine = possible Mustang engine.......

In any case, for $100 you can hardly go wrong.
There is different bolt pattern for Mustang and non Mustang heads for exhaust manifolds. I lerned this thing about year ago. I bought original 390 Mustang exhaust manifolds and only two bolt holes were at right place. So in my engine there were non Mustang heads! There is four ways to do this if you do not have Mustang cylinder heads:

1. buy Mustang cylinder heads
2. buy Edelbrock aluminum heads (there is several bolt patterns)
3. do new bolt holes your non Mustang heads
4. buy headers (usually there is several botl patterns)

Here is Mustang style bolt pattern and note only tvo of 16 holes are at right place for non Mustang heads.

The exhaust manifold I got with the 390 look nothing like those. I'll take a pic when I get home. I don't know if I'd use these heads anyway. The exhaust ports offset and look restricted.

These must be the truck bolt pattern. These are the manifolds that came with the 390.

If I am going to build it I'm sure I would find some good 428 aluminum heads for it.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I've always wanted a big block mustang. Maybe when I get tired of that puny 347 I'll sell it and build this monster.
Definitely a deal

If that monster is going into a Mustang, you'll definitely want aluminum heads and intake. It'll save you 150 pounds give or take a ton - those old FEs are heavy SOBs.

I got ahold of a 69 F100 with a 390/C6 off of e-bay for $400. The engine is sitting on the stand begging to be rebuilt. It'll either be going in my '71 F100 or Dad's '56 Fairlane 2 door. The other one gets a 460!
