Let us all know what you chose to use and then most of all - let us know how well it works with your combo. Please give your cam specs too...

im not having any luck putting the manifold on. first i got it all apart and found my that my valley had as much as 1/4" thick sludge buildup in it. due to the lack of not changing the oil whoever had it before me. next it got it put back together and found that the rear cork seal had popped out, so that fouled me up and i had to take it all apart again. but before that, i had to go to the store today like 8 times cause i couldnt find the right parts. its impossible to find the intake manifold water inlet elbow. i could only find straight ones not90 degree one. now i cant get my distributor back in. plus when i was pulling a spark plug wire off, the electrical fitting inside the rubber elbow stripped off the wire. so i was like damn, now i got to get new plug wires (which i needed anyway for my new engine). im done for the night until i can get some help with my distributor and timing.

i dont think its worth it anyway to put it back together. im just gonna be pulling the engine out in a few months. my engine right now has 213k miles on hah. its hella tired and ready to be put to rest. i guess i better get to work on my new engine. i still need to bore and hone it before i order parts. thanks for the helps dudes.

Most people use a silicone bead along the front and back in place of the gasket. I use fel-pro #1250's, they have adhesive on the block side of the gasket. Clean the block good and stick it down, no problems.
The dizzy not going all the way in is common. Set it where you want it then bump the engine over and it'll drop right in. It's just hanging up on the oil pump drive.

i just got it back together (for the 2nd time) and tried to start it. i left the distributor hand-tight so i could time it. and when i fired it up the carb backfired and flamed up. lol kinda cool but hella scary. i blew the flame out but im gonna wait till i can get some help before i try THAT again.

damn i love this forum. i can get any question answered PLUS more. whoever invented forums cause theyre the man.
