Default 200 cid running @ 235 deg.

[:@] I've got an 1967 200c.i.d. 3 speed man. trans w/ the under dash dealer add on A/C. it runs 230-240deg. all the time (aftermarket gauge reading) the radiator seems clean water moves through it well and have no leaks. the motor was remaned by local rebuilder that I know and trust new motor only has about 15 miles because of hot issue. the fan is a solid mount car has no fan shroud. Please help this car is my wifes boss' car I'm really want it to go home. THANKS BOB

240 is upper limits 220 would be nice.

What you really need right now is to get your hands on a raytec (or similar) non contact thermometer and measure the temp of the water right at 2 locations. The first spot needs to be at the top right were the hot water flows into the rad measure the temp at that joint and take a few readings to get a good idea. The second spot needs to be at the base of the rad where the second hose connects. if the water temps only differ by 10 to 15 degrees then your radiator needs to be replaced or something is up with the fan. If the water is say 240 at the top and 195 at the bottom then your rad is good and you should check to make sure there is a 180 thermostat installed and not something odd like a 200ish or something weird.

Good luck

Did it run hot before the rebuild? New motors are tight, and I would start off by not running the AC until break-in period is over. If the temps you posted are correct you need to get those down or they may cause engine damage/failure. Talk to your rebuilder and find out how tight this engine is, more specifically what your main and rod bearings clearancesare.Have you checked the timing if that is at one extreme or the other(retarded/advanced) will cause overheating. Has it boiled over? If it has notyou need to verify that your gauge/sender is giving you the correct readings. Good luck!

what Lowell said....every word

(a stock 3 core should keep that 6cyl cool as a cucumber even on a 100 degree, slow traffic day)

Those numbers sound like they are in the green to me. If the cool water is 185 and the hot water is 213 max then its working great.. Perhaps your aftermarket gauge is incorrect.

You should still check with your mechanic however.
