Default What would disconnecting a spark plug wire on one cylinder do?

After troubleshooting a distributer and carb, for a problem with hesitation and misfiring, i realized that as I was installing the starter this weekend and my dad was putting in the plugs and attaching plug wires he didn't connect the 7th cyllinder's plug wire...Could all my problems lie right there? The ditributor is out atm, so I can't check, but I will soon tomorrow morning before school.

not having one of the cyl sparking will definutly cause it to not run right

they run very rough....you can see the engine kind of kick against it mounts like its twitching.
also will tend to die at idle.

My windsor ran on 4 cylinders when the pertronix didn't feel like working (bad unit)

also have had it on 6 and 7 and still ran. When running on 8 most/all of you're problems should go away, depending

the unplugged cylinder will get a good wash. the top of the piston will look like new if you were driving like that for a while.
apart from that you'll feel what was mentioned already:
- rattling engine
- dodgy idle
- less power
