Steering - which upgrade would you go with?
Guys - I currently have a manual steering and looking to upgrade
I am only listing 3 options as I am trying to improve while being cost efficient ...i.e. for less than $650
I do know there are other options out there
Thanks!

for less than $650, go on ebay and find a used power steering setup, then replace all the hoses and rebuild what needs to be rebuilt, i payed $150 for mine, replaced the ram for $109 hoses for $70 and then bought a power steering pump for $50.

I absolutely HATE classic power steering. It's overboosted and has almost zero road feel. I have standard manual steering on my 67 and it's fine. I'd love to have a manual R&P, but definitely not in the budget. On the cheaper side, the GT and p/s 16:1 gearbox is something I'm thinking about.

Well I do have a 19:1 right now (on the coupe), and it also needs to be replaced ... so I am leaning toward the manual 16:1 for now ... could always add the power steering later ... rack and pinion would be nice though .... hence the poll!!!
For my FB (GT), I will fit an original power steering unit since the steering gear is actually pretty good ...

That is the Unisteer kit. I put that on my mustang. It works really well, but it takes a little messing around with to get it to work correctly. The angle is a little tight on the steering shaft, and the u-joints bind a bit. To correct this issue I had to get a longer connecting shaft from Unisteer. They gave me the longer shaft and a set of Granada tie rod ends no extra charge. I was thrilled with the tech support, but others have had problem with that unit, so be warned that it is not a simple bolt in. Mr. Classic EFI also has that unit.

I've got manual steering, converted from the original power steering, so I still have the 16:1 ratio box. Love the ratio, but it's a really hard turn at low speeds. I'm going for a four-point upgrade in the coming days:
1- Roller Idler Arm (95$)
2- Roller Spring Perches (180$)
3- 1 1/8 Front Sway Bar (forgot how much this was, check the website)
4- New Alignment
All this as recommended by John at Open Tracker Racing Products. I'll update when it's done, let you know how much of a difference it makes.
