Default Aussie Heads, Aussie Intake

Saw that this has been discussed but no real info. This search engine is not the greatest. Anyway I see these for sell on Ebay on occasion. The guy is selling used Aussie 2V heads and 2V to 4V intakes. What are the advantages of these if you guys do not mind me asking. What is so special about the heads and about the intake and is it worth the effort to buy them and run them on a stock 351C 2V engine? He claimed that the intake was on par with the Eldebrock performer intake. Any truth to this?

ok the stock american 2v head chamber features a open combustion chamber which is prone to detonation. the aussie head is the same as the american head almost with the exception it has closed chamber which boosts compression and at the smae time is less prone to detonation. the 2v-4v is just a manifold with a 4bbl carb integrated in to the 2v port size manifold for a bolt on conversion check out www.ausfordparts.com probably the ebay seller u see selling the aussie heads but idk they have some really nice after market setups also and parker intakes if u have the hood space etc

That is the guy I was talking too. He claims that intake is as good as aftermarket, does anyone else think that?

For $139 shipped to the US it looks like a somewhat OK deal for a used grungy intake mainfold... in HEAVY cast iron. Notice in the photo that one of the painted manifolds has a broken off vacuum fitting in it (and that is fine print "yours will not be cleaned or painted")

As for power, who knows, it is probably similar to any after-market dual plane manifold, like the Edelbrock Performer 2750.

Here is a place that sells the Edelbrock 2750 for $209.99
Link to Vick Hubbard Edelbrock 2750 manifold for $209.00

Used Edelbrock 2750 for $125.00
Used Edelbrock 2750 for sale.

Why not spend a little more and save some weight?

Thanks Bent. I already had a new edlebrock performet for $179 if I wanted it. No this guy has the aussie intake for $82 plus shipping from the USA. He has the aussie heads here as well. I only wanted to know if they made that big of a difference. Me, I like the idea of aluminum heads but I want to make sure I get it right the first time.

well if your doing an engine build and dont want to spend the coin on 4v head or the alum aftermarket but want a boost in compression without using domed pistons its worth it

Aw heck. Now I have been told to stay with 2V heads and you are telling me 4V heads. No I think I will look at those heads from the aussies and the various alluminum heads out there. As I said there are many intakes and most of them are reasonable. I even see electric water pumps and fans that are reasonable.

It just depends on how much money you want to spend.

If you want to stick with iron heads for budget or class reasons...
The Australian 2V heads are a great choice.
4V heads are good, but I would use them with a Parker Funnel Web manifold with their "tongues" (they change the shape and size of the intake ports). I would not run 4V heads with any other manifold if you want low end torque!

Parker Manifolds AN AWESOME CHOICE FOR 4V HEADS!

Or just use any CHI 2V or 3V head
