Default C-4 transmission problem

Besides my 2007 GT , I also have a 1976 original Starsky & Hutch Gran Torino. It has a c4 trans. and at low speeds (10 to 15 mph the car is trying to shuttle between 2nd and drive when applying slight throttle. I had a shift kit installed and also had a intake and 4 barrel installed. My buddy made me an adjustable kickdown rod and I have been on both ends of it (long and short) and it has made no difference. Under any other circumstance the trans works flawlessly. Any help or suggestions?

Shift points are determined by a balance between Governot pressure and throttle pressure--Kick down has nothing to do with it except in the kick down mode--Have you replaced the vacuum modulator? (Back lower right side of the case attached by a vacuum line to the intake manifold. It controls throttle pressure--There is no adjustment possible to governor pressure.

Is there an adjustment inside the vacuum modulator?

Is it "trying" or is it. If it is going from second to third back and forth than it may very well be you kickdown linkage. Disconnect it and see if it still does it. When I installed a TCI Streetfighter shifter mine did the same thing. I ended up taking mine off and everything worked flaweless. Otherwise, check the rubber lines that go the the manifold and the modulator. There should be short pieces of hose on the ends of the steel line. They may be old and cracked.

The shiftkit was a Transgo and they had a TSB called Shift BUMP BUMP BUMP. The garage trimmed the govenor and that seemed to fix it . It delayed the low rpm shifts quite a bit. Thanks everybody.
