Default Carb Choke

How does the choke work on my carb?2bbl stock carb.. I have the unused vacume line that used to be plugged into my pass side manifold, but I havent hooked it up to the little U-tube on my headers. Will my choke work properly if I just plug the vaccume line instead of running it to the header? I just want the darned thing to run again..

No, it won't. It's designed to pull hot air from the exhaust to heat up the bimetal spring inside and actuate the choke. Since you don't have factory manifolds, the next best thing is toloop the metal line around a header tube. Don't worry about plugging it.

If you still have the bracket that holds a heater hose right next to the choke body, it will help that much more.

It's not that much of a vacuum, doesn't really affect anything. I ran my car like that for quite a while, had no issues.

If you're worried about stuff getting sucked up into the choke housing, stuff a bit of scotch-brite into the end of the tube.

it's not a vacuum (or at least, mine isn't...) - it's a "heat pipe." I went to Ace hardware, cut me a bit of copper tubing, bought a compression nut, and screwed it in. Took 10 minutes.

It's a very light vacuum. As I said, not enough to cause a true 'vacuum leak'
