Default Rebuilding a 351c

Would it be cheaper to spend about 2500 bucks on a 302 with about 350hp or to rebuild my 351c 2v. im trying to figure this all out before i spend too much on the 351 if its better to go with a crate 302 thats got the cam, headers, the whole 9 yards from ebay that already is rated for high hp and torque. then ill need to get that cruddy fmx out and get a c4. maybe the 302 is the way to go? im figuring ill have about 3000-3500 here soon. will that cover most of the cost to rebuild? what do yall think?

i would stick with the cleveland but thats just me, what are you plans with the car? 302's are def. cheaper to buy parts for a stuff like that but they dont run like a built up cleveland!

[align=left]It would be cheaper to stick with the Cleveland. You have all the small parts that would nickel and dime you to death if you were to do a switch. If you switch over you'll end up buying new pulleys, brackets, etc.

Stick with the Cleveland. You'll be happier in the long run.

Also, a well prepped C4 will live behind a healthy 351C.

Cruddy FMX? I don't think so. Heavy maybe, but indestructible and reliable make up for that. Rebuild the Cleveland...I did mine for about 2200 and I replaced basically every moving part in that engine. The only things that stayed in the motor were the rockers and valves. I had a new crankshaft, rods, forged pistons, rings, cam, lifters, bearings, pushrods, stock distributor, etc. I had the block bored .030 over. 3 angle valve job, etc. You can rebuild it much cheaper plus you know what you have done and can take pride in what you've done. Plus there's no replacement for displacement!
