will a 28 spline 5 lug axle for an 8" ford rear end (stock) do the trick? could I keep the 8" and just get the 5 lug axle? anyone know of a good place to find these if so? I have done some looking and from what I have read this will do the trick. thanks in advance for your help!

well its all relative, i mean if your going to stay stock with it it would work, but it is an I-6 right? i just reread your first post, it probably would be ok, but its a 7.5 " rear, i still have mine in, and it works fine for now, but once i get the tranny changed back to the c-4 for now, or a WC t-5 i will need to go get a 9".

Hey Kevin, If and when you do your conversion. I would be interested in buying the front wheel hubs from you. If they are compatible with my 66, I will need to do some research. Send me a private message.

so is it a 7.5" or an 8"? I am really having a hard time finding any parts for this. I haven't called any of the boneyards yet, just been shopping around online.

I have a 67 I6 with 4 lug drums. If the spindles for I6 and V8 are the same, why can't you just buy OEM parts to convert to 5 lug disc? Are Drum and Disc spindles different? Where discs offered in '67?

sthompson you buy new 5 lug hubs the wheel bearings and brakes for the front.the mustang has always offered front disc since 64 but they didnt come standard tell 74.but you can look at almost any 60s car they are the same way drums but could have front disc.
