If he doesn't get it then definetly jump on it. I was able to find mine for $5k and it's an original GT (well at least all the options are there, can't tell for sure without the orginal window sticker), but I also had to restore. If she says that the guy is really interested in it, then tell her you'll give her $10.5k like somebody above said. Good luck!

Were 1965 GT's available with the automatic transmission?
I was under the impresssion that you couldn't get a factory GT with the auto until 1966.

Yes, you could get autos in the '65 GT's. But the person selling the car on vintage-mustang.com was partially wrong, it's less than 5% were factory GT's not less than 3%.That's too bad about the car, good luck finding another one.

According to Mustang Does It! by Ray Miller, GTs were 2.7% of 1965 production and 4.2% of 1966 production.

I wonder if the guy who bought is just trying to flip it and make a profit, dont blame him but kinda shady I guess. I have found a couple others that are nicer than that one for a few grand more. still dont know if it is a deal though

Ok, my mistake. I must have been thinking about the 66's then.

Sorry to hear this one got away. It wasnt meant to be. Dont let the disappointment make you jump on something that is not what you want though. It is good to scrutinize them all carefully but be ready to pounce when you find it.

As far as it being shady to re sell it right away, that is business. Personally I have never done that but if I had the opportunity and it wasnt a car that I wanted to keep, I would do it. That is what almost any business does... car sales, real estate, retail, etc. It just sucks to lose the car to someone who does that, if that is in fact the same car. Maybe the person selling did not realize how the market for these cars is changing & has changed. Or maybe it is a different car...

Either way, let us know when you find another serious candidate and opinions will fly again.
Cheers!
