the 3550 is a better tranny than the t-5 . If you can i would reccomend the 3550. It will hold more power.

3550's were discontinued by Tremec. I dunno how many common parts they share with the TKO series, so if you get one and need parts later, you may be screwed if you can't get the. I imagine many of the parts are shared though

Bite the bullit and go TKO or T56. I bought a tremec 3650 before I knew anything about tranny's and now I have a really big door stop that wont bolt to my 347.

how much power are you talking about? Unless you are running alot of power the TKO is overkill, although it is a great tranny. 67stang, if you want to sell your doorstop let me know. I like the tremec 3550 3650!!

the 3650 is used for modular engines, OHC engines, that's why most people go T5, T56, or TKO. It's easier to find the parts. The T5 will hold a lot of beating. Unless you've got over 350hp/tq, I wouldn't worry. Otherwise, a T56 with some 3.90s? in the rear will do the trick

You could do a T5 and upgrade to a GForce kit and the tranny will hold around 600hp, and they have a .73 OD gearset too, insead of that crappy factory supertall gear

Yeah, but that .73 gear is expensive

Their entire upgrade kit is expensive, but it's certainly strong
