Default carpet dillema!!!!!help

I am installing new carpet in a 66 very, First question does the front section of carpet lay under the forward firewall insulation???or over it (above your feet area). Is there any secrets to make your new carpet form like the old??? Installing it today.

The new carpet will relax onto the floor board over time. A mild heat gun can help, but time is your friend (as would a nice warm day to lay it down in).

Can't answer the insulation part for sure (I took mine out), but I would guess it lays on top of the insulation, IIRC.

over the insulation and amen to the warm weather,,,carpet, headliners,,all seem to need to relax? for awhile in the right temps to fit and look right,,,,while carpets off,,,do you need to install sound deader or more insulation or drain plugs? if so nows the time to do it,,,along with a new shifter boot if you have a maual tranny,,,just a thought
