Default Tranny For Ford 302 and 351

where can you get the right transmissions for these engines? is there any like...universal trans that will work with both....manual by the way.

ive looked on jegs and stuff like that but they dont really specify what engines and stuff they are compatible with...and shifters...is there a certain type for certain types of transmissions?

Well if your talking about racing the c- 4 tranny is preffered than the c-6 then again both are used. id prefer the c-4 theyre smaller than the c-6 but they pack a lot of torque when built right, for the c-6 they have a engine housing as one unit with the tranny so they usually fit in a 302 or a 351w c-6's are prefered for heavy duty and what not there are some performance parts but they are more parts for the c-4.as for the shifters they are universal shifters some will specify what tranny wether a c-4 or 6 and usually how many gears are there.

The 302 and 351w are small block Fords, so any tranny ever mated to a small block can work. Mustangs with small blocks have used autos such as C4s, FMXs, AODs and even C6s with the correct bell housing. Manuals include T-10s, toploaders, T5s and tremecs.
Take your pick...
