Identification of 351w heads.
I am trying to find out some more info about the engine in my Mach1-69. It´s a 351W and should be a 4V because the caris M-coded. I suppose the 4Vheads are different from 2V withsmaller combustion chambers for higher compression. Where can I find casting numbers for 2V or 4V? I hope you will understand most of my swenglish! Thanks!

Yes, but i didn´t know where to look, but I suppose you gave me the answer. Somebody told me to look on the outide of the heads and not under the valve covers. Thanks!

RE: Identification of 351w heads.
IIRC the 351 Windsor heads are no different 2V-4V.
The good ones are from 1969 marked C9OE, and 1970-72 Marked D0OE, no difference other than date casting. Date code will be under the valve cover. The other 351 heads are larger combustion chambered, and not worth the time. Either way the D0OE type heads are dated, & newer heads can be more effective.
If your rebuilding your engine & are replacing pistons, I'd suggest skipping the 351 heads & use GT-40's. You can make up for the larger GT-40 combustion chambers, by using pistons specific to the Compression ratio you want to have. Then do some mild DYI port matching & relieving. Or just look around for a good used set of aluminum heads, they'er out there, at good prices.

OK, according to the above mentioned book, there is no difference between 2V and 4V 351 Heads.
I am providing info for 1969 - 1984 heads below.
C9OE-B, C9OE-D, D0OE-C, D0OE-G, All have:
60cc chambers,
1.84" intake valve 1.94" x 1.76" intake ports
1.54"exhaust valve 1.24" x 1.00" exhaust ports
D5TE-EB, D7OE-A, D8OE-A, D8OE-AB,
69cc chambers,
1.78" intake valve 1.94" x 1.04" intake ports
1.45" exhaust valve 1.24" x 1.00" exhaust ports
I don't know where the casting numbers are,,, never really looked for them... somebody here does though...

RE: Identification of 351w heads.
Okey, the heads are the same for 2V and 4V and thepistons makes the difference in compression. That makes it a lot easier for me.
Thanks a lot! I am a rookie and really appreciate the help.
