Default Did 66 have it?

With the 66, 6cyl, 3 spd, w/o AC, did it have a center console? I see alot of pics of verts and they do. I see where you can order them. I can't seem to narrow down what an actual console for this model looked like originally. Anyone have any links or pics?

My '66 has a console. It came with the Sprint package. Not sure if you could get one without the Sprint package, but probably so. Check eBay, I've seen a few on there.

Center consoles for the 65-66 are the same. There is a diffence between the console that will fit a coupe and fastback and the one that will fit a convertible. The convertible console is cut differently to conform to the floor, which apparently is different from the coupe/fastback. Most of the big Mustang parts companies sell reproductions but they are very expensive (almost $600 for a complete one). I found a complete used console for my 65 convertible on Ebay for under $300 and restored it myself. I see other consoles on Ebay on a fairly regular basis. I'd be patient and watch for a good one.

Good luck!

Yep the console for verts has relief cutouts for the extra vert bracing.
There are shortened versions, of the console, with a chrome cap/end, that fit the origional underdash A/C Ford used in the 65-66 Mustangs.
Consoles came with 2 finishes, Chrome ribes with camera case finish(for GT's w/o pony interior), and chrome ribs with wood grain finish, used with Pony interiors.(GT & non GT) I dont remember if the console was available stand alone, though I dont think it was, Ya had toorder GT or Pony Interior packages.

Thanks for all the answers. Looks like it's possible that my 66 didn't have a console from everything I have gathered, but one could be put in for a pri$e. All that is in it is the shifter w/boot and a chrome plate.
Thanks again!! Now I'll start another thread on the carb wows...

It was also included on the Sprint package, as I said above.
