429 Power Adders.

429 Power Adders.
I'm working on building a 429 to put in my 1969 Mach 1. Being my absolute dream car, I want to go all out on this build. I was wondering if anyone has managed to find a blower set up in this situation that stayed under the hood. Was also thinking about just plumbing up a twin turbo set up but realize this seems really uncommon so if anyone has done anything substantially powerful and cool (including any different types of builds, tunnel ram, tri-power, dualquads, ect. anything that has worked out well)with a 429 in a 69 Mach 1 i would really like to hear about it.

id look at a set of blue thunder heads bore and stroke it as far as i could keep it all motor but still runing pump gas.blowers are nice power adders but drive one for hours on the highway the blower whine anoyys me.turbos are nice too but kill the exhaust sound.but either way you have to build the engine up to handle forced induction.

www.460ford.com and do a search. Someone makes a bracket for the procharger for the 429-460, I think it's the supercharger shop. Check out http://www.racesystems.com/cobra/index.html
Blue thunder makes a low rise 2x4 intake too. You can get 557 cubes out of a 429/460 stock block but make sure you sonic check it. Dont know about any tripower intakes. I hope you have a good chassis built, 500+HP from a BB is simple.

i'd stick with the 429 crank, what made it such an awsome motor was the fact that it spun up quick. use that to your advantage.
yes, great heads and a nice lumpity cam are obvious choices - personally i would get dyers to send you a polished 8-71 or something along those lines..... they are SO damn sexy. that being said, any vortech or paxton should be able to be made possible under the hood but with a lowrise intake your ultimately hurting performance

Bottle the bitch. 429's with their short stroke and huge rod to stroke ratio, rap up quick. You wanted to keep a blower under the hood, so you must be looking for stelth, then just build a strong bottem end and add nitrous. No turbo lag, no big hole in the hood, no blower whine to always contend with. If you put in a remote bottle opener and an atuomatic retard, you can have a great sleeper, that only uses extra fuel when you need it. You can use flat top pistons to run on pump gas when cruzin, then add the nitrous as it doesn't need big compression to made big torque. Just remember the first 2 rules of nitrous use: retard the timing a bunch, and never get greedy.

no way...if i had an option to build a 385 id go with a 545 stroker, kaase p51 heads and intake, roller cam, 1250 dominator and make 700 hp with out much trouble at all and it will be N/A all the way.

Well, I agree with never getting greedy on nitrous, but you don't need to retard it a bunch. It depends on the setup and what you spray for fuel. If you run meth/nitrous in a wet system then you can get away with more without having to retard, and a well built engine with a well tuned nitrous system won't need a bunch of ignition retard. But yeah, with ANY type of engine build, never get greedy, it's very easy to do, and very costly
