well being that my motor is already assembled.... and i don't have the money to get all that work done... will a normal cam... because thats all i have.. nothing to perfomie... just a stock replacement pretty much... will my motor be ok with just the normal 3/8 rockers with 5/16 nuts?
IMO if your cam lift and spring pressure is not much over stock, the stock type rockers will likely work just fine...

If you can, put some screw in studs in there. There's a reason they stopped using pressed in studs. Pressed in != stay in [&:]Besides, if you put some good 3/8 studs and rockers on now, you have them for later on when you put better heads on etc

Yeah, those will work. The rails are the part of the tip that goes over the side of the valve to keep the rocker arm aligned. One thing you should check, if the valves were replaced, is the clearance between the spring retainer and the rails. If they're the original valves, never mind :-)

BTW, have those heads been gone through? That first valve stem tip looks pretty hammered. Also, you need a specific nut for those studs, it has a bevel to match the one on the stud.

Yep those ball stud rockers are the stock ones and will work fine with a stock to mild cam. the nuts are of a pinch type design to keep them tight. You can adjust them one of two ways, set them to partially collapse the lifter. Or you can loosly install them and once the eingines running, loosen the to get the valve tapping and then go a turn to 1 1/2 trun more after quiet (simialr to the gm approach). i've done it both ways and prefer the latter.

ok ill make sure ill get the right type of nut... i beleive they have been... with my experiances with the machine shop i go to... they normally tell you if everything is ok or not..... also i think the valves are older.... i think they have just been cleaned... ill need to look in to it
