Dear Stang Doctors Need Your Diagnosis!
Hi!
I have the that plastic reservoir but I noticed it get's filled all the way to the top with coolant and bubbles excessively. Is this normal? The temp guage fluctuates from a little over halfto about 1/4.The Stangdoesnt seem to overheat but I guess everyone has their on opinion on what over heats means (no steam orexcessive water gushing).
The Radiator does "suck" back the coolant from the reservoir though but I have to continue adding more coolant to it because it spits it out of the top end of the reservoir while I'm driving the car on the freeway.
Is the bubbling normal? If not what causes it?
I have a 65 Coupe with an electric fan that pulls about 2300 cfm's of air (starts at a very low temp now because I haveit setthat way). I alsohave a new 10 pound radiator cap,a new 3 row radiator, and a 180 degree thermostat (also new).
I dont see any water in the oil (dip stick). There is no smoke from anywhere. The Stang runs like a champ. And when the engine is on idle it the temperathe stays at 1/4 (very cool). It's when I drive the Stang on the Freeway for a few minutes after I exit and notice the "bubbling".
I just recently changed the intake and carb from a 2 barrel to a 4 barrel (both new).
Ok Stang Doctor's. Please give me the News. I hope I don't have to sit down to hear it...
Is my Stang going to be alright?? What do I need to do?

13 lb cap. Make sure it is a recovery type. Dont fill your overflow bottle all the way up. about half is all that required, make sure the overflow hose goes all the way to the bottom of the bottle. Also bled your cooling system, because you may have some airlocks in there.
If you have done all these things, and you are still overflowingthe bottle, read 67mustang302s post again.

I'm guessing you just need a new radiator cap. It's a cheap and easy thing to try. The cap is meant to hold pressure in the cooling system. The pressure increases the boiling point of the coolant. If your coolant is beginning to boil or steam it would overflow alot and when it hits the tank and the lower pressure that steam will recondense quickly into water which can cause more bubbling.
