need help replacing ignition switch
I was able to remove key cylinder. Can't get inner piece out. I've turned inner piece counterclockwise, but does not come out. Is it suppose to come out from back(behind dashboard)? Is chrome piece with Acc., Off, On, label suppose to out as well? Joe

RE: need help replacing ignition switch
You didn't mention what year car you have. I think star furry is thinking of one of the accessory switches. The heater **** and headlight **** have bezels you unscrew, not the ignition switch. I'm not sure if all Mustangs are the same, but that's how it is on my 66. After you remove the cylinder, youremove the switch by reaching under the dash (or through your guage cluster after removing it) and rotate the entire switch while pushing it towards the dash (from the inside), by the way you have to hold the bezel in place to keep it from rotating at the same time. There is a collar that is sandwiched between the ignition switch and the dash that has a spring inside it. The bezel you see on the outside hastwo little notches on it that line up with little bumps on the ignition switch. The hard part is keeping the bezel from moving while you push in and rotate the ignition switch until these bumps/notches line up. At that point the switch will come free. Good luck!
