yes, this is not a "necessary" purchase and certainly not a car needed for the purpose of getting from A to B... however money is money and being responsible about the decision is probably our number one goal... be it 2k or 15k... there will always be a better deal someowhere along the line if one continues to look... just as we could decide against the purchase and then end up saying to ourselves "you remember that mustang??? wow... we should have bought it...!!!" I guess we have reached a point where we are now well informed, know what's ok and what isn't with the car and simply need to mull it over and decide if we ultimately feel comfortable with the decision to go ahead with it... doesn't make it any easier though! lol!

Dont let me talk you out of it. The car sounds solid. Like it was said earlier, even though the appraiser said it was overpriced, you have to look at what the cars value to YOU is going to be. I paid a little to much for mine considering the shape it was in. If I knew then what I know now, I would not have bought mine. However, having said all that, I LOVE my car and the only way I would part with it is if the Mrs. said I could have 69 Mach 1.

Do what makes you happy. The car sounds great.

lol.... I know! that's what we're thinking about right now... if this is really meant to be or not.... I don't know if I mentioned this before but 15K includes tax, title and registration... so the actual asking price is 13500....

Was Craig's recommended 11-13 inclusive or TT&L or was that just the basic car price. You may be closer than you think.

Thank you again to all, especially James! Hopefully some day we will be able to return the favor and help one of you out! At least now we can say we know about Vintage Mustangs Mustangs!!! :-)

Certainly is a fine looking car in the photos. Your "friend" certainly wouldn't mind you having the car inspected by a reliable mechanic and body shop. I'm not down on the price...I paid much more than that for the coupe pictured below. Just cover your bases on thedrive train(engine/trans/rear) and body/frame. I fell in love with my car at first sight too, and it's amazing what those rose-colored glasses will allow you to overlook or miss! If you find little things wrong that youcan live with, it may even help you get the price down a little, especially if the seller was unaware of it when he listed it. I would ask him to tell you any/all problems with the car first. Then if you find additional things he was unaware of, he might lower the price.

You can tell a lot about the car just by driving it for an hour if he'll let you. Old cars don't always hide secrets so well. If something isn't right during the test drive, it won't get better on its own. Check out the suspension also...an often overlooked part of these cars. Push up and down on the car, and see how it performs on the not-so-smooth roads. Most important are the brakes. Test them and have them inspected.

Nice car. Is that the 2 1/2 or the 3 inch cowl hood? I am going to have to replace mine before long and I am looking at these two.
