What about a bumper with a few spots of rust the size of skittles ? Anyway of grind that out with steel wool ? Just curious....

Yes, it will likely come out and look pretty good for a while, but will come back. If you wax it it will last longer.

I have been doing this recently. I am using a buffing wheel on my angle grinder with a metal cleaning/polishing stick. I got mine at Ace Hardware but I saw that Lowes had some wheels and 3 different types of polishing sticks. It works well but just takes some time. I will try the 0000 steel wool too.

never tried and as living in Ireland I probably will never get a chance to try.

Everyone suggests steel wool for polishing chrome. Don't really know where to get that stuff here (have to research), but how about I use those pot cleaners ?I'd say that's probably the same stuff anyway:

well i had to try this , i have a pontoon boat that has all aluminum tanks and i wanted the tanks polished so i got to lookin around for polishes to do big areas, so i thought about the semi's fuel tanks and i found this link to a polish you make at home with mineral spirits green polishing rogue and carnuba car wax. so i made me some one morning, and i could not believe the job it done on my pontoon tanks, they look like a mirror. its best to use a heavy duty buffer of some kind but i am very pleased and will not be buying store bought polishes again. its up to you to try it just be sure you use a hot plate and not a open flame to cook this stuff...heres the link i made mine off of. and it works killer on chrome and stainless too..

Well I spent several!! hours in the garage with a buffing wheel and polish sticks. I has really done a great job. I have the luxury of all my chrome being off the car. I wouldn't get near the car with it. I didn't like the 0000 steel wool. My chrome probably hasn't been cleaned since 1971 either.
