Well if it was really faded and a single stage then thats why you went through, not enough paint left. the advantage of two stage is that you have a little more paint to buff with especially if the shop puts on enough clear. as far as the hood now, I would go with a satin finish, kirker makes one called "hot rod black" its a single stage and pretty cheap. plus it's made to be a topcoat so it wont turn faded and chalky like flat black paint or primer will. good luck either way.

There was no paint on the buffing pad. I will look into that paint though. I was just gonna use Krylon ultra-flat.

re paint your hood to origional. A paint store should be able to match it.

Then it would look better than the rest of the car. I really dont want to put any money into it, I'm actually thinking of just selling the car. Im about to do the cltch and rear main seal sometime next week, after that I'm done with it. I would rather just get an 04 Cobra. If I had another car, I would keep it. I just cant keep worrying about when its going to break down again. Its my daily driver, and I've put 9000 miles on it since I bought it in March of this year.

if you drive your car to a paint place they can match the existing color, so the repainted stuff should be the same shade, nothing that stands out.
