Big project.

You first need to determine exactly what you want before any suspension suggestions will be very useful.

Do you want to lower the car at all? . It will corner a little better if you do.

Do you want a soft or moderately firm ride?

Do you want it to corner well on curvy roads?

What engine?

Do you want more horsepower?

What gear ratio do you want?

What type of driving do you do, street racing or 80 mph on the freeway or inbetween?

Where are you located?

I avoid all Chinese and Taiwanese suspension parts but you won't know which ones those are but many of us do and can tell you.

Thanks for the response, I want a car that rides smooth yet can handle the curve (I live in the Sierra Mountain foothills). I do want more horsepower, around 350 or so, I am considering adding a new transmission with an overdrive. The engine is a 351 W and still runs strong. This car is 46 years old and has run since it was new. The car currently has only 98,000 miles. I have replaced the single exhaust with a 2 1/8" dual with a cross over pipe. I will keep most things on the car standard but want to hide some added goodies like heated seats, improve stereo system, cruise control. Once the car is striped and ready for reassembly, I want to use a lot of sound deadening materials. I do like the freeway for driving but up here you have to go through the backroads to get there, my town is called Grass Valley, CA. I do want to lower the car several inches but want to talk to others before doing this change.

I am trying to find people in my area and pick there brains for ideas and what not to do's. I am retired and have always worked on my own cars.

I want to get really good parts, especially when it comes to oil seals for the transmission and engine. I don't like leaks and have managed to keep them at a minimum.

Really like new technologies like Bluetooth, XM Radio, and modern breaking systems.

My goal is to update the car as much as possible, and keeping the vintage looks, and increased horsepower.

I worked several years on my brothers 1967 Shelby Cobra and this car is not to far removed for that experience.

One thing I have yet to find is a system to lock the hood so you have to be in the car to open it (concerned about thieft). I do have the gas cap locking system.

So, I have rambled enough. Thanks for the questions, and for your help.

any time you make a car corner better, it will ride stiffer.

heres one option.

lower it 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" from stock height . it is probably a little lower now due to spring sag.

480 or 520 lb front lowering springs.

7/8 sway bar with urethane bushings

scott drake urethane spring perches or roller bearing perches.

135 lb mid or reverse eye rear leaf springs.

urethane shackle bushings

kyb gas shocks or revalved bilsteins or adjustable konis.

I suggest Dynacorn. Everything I have used that they distribute fit very well.
